a function of anatomy
While watching an episode of Nova Science Now, during a segment on how long term memory is effected by the hippocampus, someone uttered a remark stating that memory is a function of anatomy. Well, my response is yea, what part of human consciousness and awareness isn’t? As long as I am in this world, I am the light of this world.
Every part of what I perceive to be reality is channeled through my brain. That is the function of the brain! Everything I touch, see or hear, everything I taste or smell, is processed by the brain and presented to my consciousness (also a function of anatomy) for action and/or evaluation. If you think that your sense of self is anything other than a function of anatomy, think again. Thinking is one of the anatomical functions performed by the brain. Thoughts about gods, thoughts about an afterlife… are all just a function of anatomy.
